It’s a carefully considered set of stages/milestones in your child’s first few years that makes for a beautiful and lasting record of the wonder years. Curated and designed personally by Amrita Samant, these stages take into account everything from the baby’s growth stages to the growth of the bond between parent and child.
WHICH MONTHS SHOULD I PLAN FOR ?
Don’t worry, we did the research so you don’t have to. The stages we have outlined for your child above, track key developmental moments in the first two years and cover significant and meaningful changes in the growth story of your baby.

So what does each milestone consist of?
(A) Birth and Newborn
1) Maternity Stage
This once in a lifetime phase shared by the expecting parents
2) Newborn Stage
Celebrating your little one's arrival is one of life’s most precious moments. Their little squishy, pink cheeks and soft skin to their tiny fingers, a newborn symbolizes nature's greatest miracle. The ideal time to shoot newborns is when they are between 5 days to 15 days old. This is their ‘mold-able’ stage where they tend to sleep a lot and curl up into these adorable positions they were in, in the womb. Babies also tend to be extremely flexible at this age and can be moved into a few sleeping poses too. However, a safe bet would be within 30 days if you miss the first two weeks.
B) The Precious First Year
3) 3 months Milestone
If you’ve missed the Newborn phase and still want to capture their infancy, this is the right age. The Bonus is they open their eyes wide now and recognize you! And this brings all those adorable and heart-melting infant smiles. This is the time where everything about them is just so tiny.
Their tiny feet, hands, finger, lips…. Its honestly way too cute not to capture this period.
6) 12 months (ON all fours)
And a huge congratulations to you for making it through a year as parents! What better than to sum up the first year than a milestone shoot to document the beautiful tiny human your baby has become!
Most babies crawl by this stage, although not necessarily forwards. Keen for a better view of the world, you’ll probably find your baby hanging onto the furniture as he/she pulls up to stand. The period where they might start to crawl, and some start doing acrobats too where they start pointing their legs and hands in different directions while balancing on their hands etc. The antics they pull at this age is just pretty hilarious, yet adorable!
Location: This stage can be shot at your home, at our studio (for props) and even outdoors.
4) 6 months milestone (Half-birthday)
At the 6 months phase, your baby may be able to roll over from his back to his front. There’s so much to capture during this period that I’ve written an entire blog on the same - THE BIG SIX.
At this period, they’re learning to sit (most of them still need support while sitting), they’re enjoying tummy time and they absolutely adore biting their toes, their facial features are more prominent, there are bigger smiles and they understand a game of peek-a-boo, even.
C) One to Two Years
7) 18 months (Toddler phase)
Your baby’s first steps are an exciting climax to all the skills she’s learnt up until now. Its endearing to now see them run and be wild and free. Their independence grows and this stage becomes all about ‘play’. Using our unique ‘play’ approach, we get to capture them on the move and get you natural expressions and hassle-free techniques to get the best out of them during this session.
5) 8 to 10 months (Sitter stage)
One of my personal favourite stages, your baby has now learned to sit. This sitter-crawler-diapered bum phase is way too cute. They’re more in control of their skills and really go for what they want!
Now is the time where they start babbling in a language we haven’t deciphered, yet we understand it in ways not known to mankind!
8) 24 months
The special second birthday, when they’ve learned to communicate in more ways than one
